The Original Moku Hanga Inspired Playing Card.
The Moku Hanga Inspired Playing Cards Deck is an original set of playing cards designed by À Vol d'Oiseau. It melds the traditional aesthetics of Japanese style woodblock printing with a modern flare inspired by our interests in modern Japanese manga and western comics. The art is printed on 310 gsm linen playing cards.
The Joker cards represent Yôkai, monsters from the traditional Japanese folk tales. The one on the right is a Oni (鬼), a demon known for being invincible. The one on the left is Harionago (針女子). She comes from the Japanese prefecture of Ehime on Shikoku island. She is famous for her beauty and ensnaring men with her hair.
